After a hearty breakfast of scrambled eggs and bacon, we assembled for a group photo and then boarded the rafts for our final few miles on the river. We got to experience geology in action when we got wet in a new rapid at Mile 221 that formed after a flash flood earlier in the summer (it had formed in 2016 as well, but then disappeared a few months later after that year’s High Flow Experiment). A short ninety minutes later, we were pulling into Diamond Creek, where we unloaded the boats and climbed into vans for the drive back to Flagstaff.
